Pousson Signs For 2008-09 Season
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Dillon Pousson (Round Lake) has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville wrestling program starting in the 2008-09 season.
"Dillon is a quality Illinois wrestler that I am excited to get in and start working with. He is someone that should be able to come in and immediately help out our program," said SIUE coach Pat McNamara.
While wrestling for Round Lake Senior High School, Pousson has rewritten many of the school's records. After his first three seasons, he recorded the most pins in season (24) and most pins in a career (54). He also is on pace to break the school career wins record of 133.
Currently ranked sixth in the state of Illinois, Pousson is a two-time conference champion, regional champion, three-time sectional qualifier, and a state qualifier.
In addition to his high school accomplishments, Pousson has a list of club awards to add to his list. For 2005, he was the Freestyle state champion and Greco state runner-up. For 2006, he was the Freestyle state third-place winner and the State Farm Midwest National Champion. For 2007, he was the U.S. Army National Champion.
"Chicago has a lot of good wrestling going on up there and it is good that we are starting to get some serious looks and commitments from the wrestlers," said McNamara.
