February 15, 2008 Northern Illinois Wrestling Cancels Trip to SIUE EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Northern Illinois University Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Dr. Jim Phillips announced Thursday that the wrestling team will not travel Sunday to compete against Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. This news comes in light of Thursday's tragic events in DeKalb. SIUE Coach Pat McNamara said Sunday's double-dual with Northern Illinois and Truman State will become a dual meet at 2 p.m. against Truman State. SIUE Chancellor Vaughn Vandegrift released a statement to students and the University Community early Friday morning. "Although we feel secure here at SIUE, as always we will continue to take the utmost caution in keeping our campus safe. In the next few days, our University Police will stand at high alert."
