Jennifer Jakel Named SIUE Women's Golf Coach;
Viehl Promoted to Men's Golf Head Coach

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Jennifer Jakel has been named the new head coach of the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's golf program, announced today by SIUE Director of Athletics Brad Hewitt.
         Kyle Viehl, the assistant coach for both of the programs last season, also has been promoted to men's head coach, Hewitt announced.
         Jakel becomes the third women's golf coach in the program's history. The Cougars have made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA East Regional Championships, setting the bar as one of the region's premier women's golf programs.
         A collegiate golfer at Missouri State University, Jakel is a native of Highland where she also works as an accountant for Frey Properties of Highland. She earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Missouri State in 2002 and is completing work on a master's in business administration at SIUE.
         "I am very pleased to welcome Jennifer to SIUE Athletics. I believe her skills and knowledge will help make the SIUE women's golf program a continued success," said Hewitt.
         Jakel was a four-year player from 1999-2002 at Missouri State, helping the Bears to a Missouri Valley Conference title in 2001. The Bears also made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2000-2001 season.
         Hewitt said Viehl and Jakel will share some duties among the men's and women's golf programs.
