Women's Golf Sets More Records
It has to give Coach Larry Bennett a good feeling when his team continues to break school records.
While finishing a respectable seventh place at the 20-team Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, the Cougars set team records for 18-hole (325) and 36-hole scores (654).
Katie Farrell (Princeton), a sophomore, set the early standard for SIUE with a school-record, 18-hole score of three-over-par 75 in the opening round. Deanna Bock (Edwardsville), a junior, turned in scores of 79-77 for a 156. Her 156 tied Farrell for seventh place at the IWU Invitational and set a new 36-hole record at SIUE.
The Cougars also picked up a season-best score of 86 from Kristi Novak (Highland). Nonie Ehlke’s (Highland) first-round score of 86 also was a 2001 best.
