Farrell Sets Records at Cougar Classic
(ALTON, Ill.) Katie Farrell, a sophomore from Princeton, shot a second-round 78 to help Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to a second-place finish at the Cougar Classic.
Farrell's 78 at the par 71 Woodlands Golf Club in Alton was the best ever 18-hole score for a Cougar. Her 36-hole score of 162 also broke the school record by five strokes. Farrell placed fourth at the two-day tournament, finishing five strokes behind tournament champion Kim Moore of the University of Indianapolis.
As a team, SIUE scored a 36-hole school-record 679 after shooting another school-record round of 336 during the tourney's first round.
Brittany Auld, a sophomore from Nashville, was among the top eight and walked away with all-tournament honors. Auld shot rounds of 84 -84 for seventh place.
The other SIUE finishers were Deanna Bock (86-88), Kacy Gruenkemeyer (82-95), Nonie Ehlke (88-93), and Kristi Novak (93-100).
The Cougars next play a 36-hole event on Sunday and Monday at the University of Southern Indiana.
