Farrell Named All-GLVC
Katie Farrell (Princeton), who made Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's first move into NCAA competition in women's golf, was named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Farrell received the honor for the second straight season along with four other GLVC individuals based on their scores throughout the 2001-2002 season.
The sophomore finished 28th at the NCAA Division II East Regional in Perry Park, Ky., on May 3-4. She carded a 173.
Farrell, who led SIUE with an 83.7 scoring average, broke the school scoring record for 18 holes last September with a 75 at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. She shared the 36-hole record with teammate Deanna Bock (Edwardsville) with a 156 at the same event.
The Cougars placed third at the GLVC Tournament last fall with Farrell leading the way with a sixth-place finish. It was the highest finish by an SIUE women's golfer in the league tournament.
