Women’s Golf Heads
To Illinois Wesleyan Inv.
After a week off from competition, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville returns to the course on Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.
The two-day tournament is being played at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal.
Coach Larry Bennett said this weekend would give his team an opportunity to know where it stands against conference opponents.
“We will get a chance to see Lewis and Indianapolis and play head-to-head with them. After the tournament, we will know what standard is going to be set for the remainder of the fall invitationals, which feature mostly Great Lakes Valley Conference members.”
The Cougars finished sixth as a team at the Kentucky Wesleyan Fall Invitational two weeks ago. Katie Farrell (Princeton) led the young team with a fourth-place individual finish after shooting an 84.
Bennett will know Wednesday who is headed to this weekend’s invitational.
“Right now they are all fighting for position and will be all year long,” Bennett said.
