Shelton Named First Team All-GLVC
           EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Amber Shelton, who became the first player in Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball history to score 1,000 points in two seasons, has been named first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference for the 2007-2008 season.
           Shelton helped SIUE to a 17-11 record and a bid to the GLVC Tournament. She finished the season as the No. 1 scorer in the GLVC with 21.5 points per game, which also set a new single-season record for SIUE.
           Shelton's leadership on the floor was evident as she led the team in numerous categories including field goals (218), field goals attempted (458), free throws (147), free throws attempted (195), rebounds per game (7.0), rebounds (196), assists (74) and steals (61). Her career ended with 1,165 points, 10th best all-time.
           SIUE Coach Wendy Hedberg said Shelton improved her game over last season with more rebounding, assists and better three-point field goal shooting.
           "She tried to be a complete player for us," Hedberg said.
           The GLVC first team includes Drury's Molly Carter, Northern Kentucky's Angela Healy, Quincy's Jessica Keller, and Missouri S&T's Tamara McCaskill. Carter was named the GLVC's Player of the Year.
