Shooting Touch Eludes Cougars
           ROLLA, Mo. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's basketball shot 27.5 percent from the field Saturday in a 72-48 loss at Missouri S&T.
           Missouri S&T shot 54.4 percent for the game and pounded SIUE in the paint 40-6. SIUE fell to 15-8 overall and 8-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri S&T, ranked third in the Great Lakes Region, improved to 18-4 overall and 12-3 in the GLVC.
           Amber Shelton was the only SIUE starter in double figures for the Cougars with 16 points, including three three-pointers. Kara Frandsen added 13 points off the bench with three three-pointers of her own.
           The Cougars and the Miners were both slow out of the gate. The Miners grabbed a 28-20 lead by halftime and then rocketed to a comfortable lead with a 22-2 run over the first 10 minutes of the second half.
           Missouri S&T center Tamara McCaskill led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Katie McElroy added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
           SIUE's road swing ends Tuesday at Quincy. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
