January 31, 2008 Missouri S&T Surges Past Cougars EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Missouri S&T used a 14-0 run in the second half to erase a nine-point deficit Thursday in a 67-60 loss over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The Cougars, now 13-5 overall and 6-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, picked up a 20-point effort from Amber Shelton and 12 from Elyse Morris. After holding a 35-29 lead at halftime, SIUE was looking to hand Missouri S&T a road defeat. The Cougars, however, struggled from the field in the second half, hitting 10 of 34 shots and just 2 of 15 from three-point range. Missouri S&T moved to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the GLVC. Four players finished in double figures for the Miners. Chism McEntire led the Miners with 17 points. Lauren Dubbert added 13 points. Katie Bunge scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds. Tamara McCaskill contributed 11 points. SIUE returns to the Vadalabene Center Saturday at face Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m. -siue- |
