November 26, 2007 SIUE's Clements Named AVCA All-American EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Mallory Clements (Mt. Pulaski), who led Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball to its second straight NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, has been named third team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Clements previously was named first team All-Great Lakes region. This is the second All-American honor for Clements. The junior setter led all Great Lakes Valley Conference setters in kills per game at 2.08 along with her 11.61 assists per game. "She had another outstanding year," said SIUE coach Todd Gober. "She is a complete player. She's one of the top blockers in the GLVC and was our most effective server." Clements finished second on the team in digs per game at 3.70. Her serving numbers also put her into the No. 1 position all-time with 161 career service aces. "As one of our team captains, she was one of the players we looked to in crucial situations," said Gober. SIUE, ranked No. 13 in the latest AVCA national poll, finished the 2007 season with a 27-7 record, falling in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Regional Tournament to eventual champion Grand Valley State.
