May 9, 2007 Colosimo, Ohlau Named All-Region Southern Illinois University Edwardsville pitcher Kaitlin Colosimo (Orland Park) and outfielder Jodie Ohlau (Percy) were named to the inagural Daktronics, Inc., all-Great Lakes Region team. The duo led SIUE to the No. 1 seed in the Great Lakes Region and the Great Lakes Valley Conference title. SIUE begins NCAA Tournament play Thursday against Shepherd (W.V.) at 11:30 a.m. Wayne State University junior pitcher Molly Yetman (Cambridge, Ontario) and Gannon University junior shortstop Jaclyn Corroto (Boardman, Ohio) have been named the Daktronics, Inc. Great Lakes Region Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively, for softball in a vote by the region’s sports information directors. The All-Great Lakes Region first team infield includes Corroto; Mercyhurst University senior first baseman Jen Feret (Boardman, Ohio); University of Missouri-Rolla junior second baseman Kandi Wieberg (St. Elizabeth, Missouri); West Virginia Wesleyan College sophomore third baseman Carly McCullough (Bradenton, Florida); and Alderson-Broaddus College junior catcher Ashley Mooney (Madison, West Virginia). Wieberg was the GLVC Player of the Year in 2007 and has the Lady Miners in the NCAA II Tournament for the first time in school history. In the outfield, the 2007 first team consists of Ohlau; University of Missouri-St. Louis senior Alex Pepin (Kirkwood, Missouri); and Missouri-Rolla’s freshman Ashley Winter (Richland, Missouri). Ferris State sophomore pitcher/outfielder Sarah Mueller (Santa Clarita, California) is the first-team All-Great Lakes Region utility player, while University of Indianapolis freshman Megan Russell (Indianapolis, Indiana) was selected as the first-team designated player. Russell was the GLVC Freshman of the Year. Mueller has helped lead the Bulldogs to the sixth seed in the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament. In addition to Yetman, the All-Great Lakes Region first team pitchers consist of Colosimo and Grand Valley State University sophomore Lori Andjelich (Munster, Indiana). Colosimo was the GLVC Pitcher of the Year in 2007, while Andjelich has led the Lakers to the fourth seed in the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament. All members of the first team move onto the ballot for All-America voting. The second team infield consists of Grand Valley State senior first baseman Crista Buresh (Stanwood, Michigan); Grand Valley State second baseman Kristin Moleski (Rockford, Michigan); Lewis University sophomore shortstop Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Illinois); Fairmont State University sophomore third baseman Whitnie Highland (Scott Depot, West Virginia); and Quincy University sophomore catcher Jasmyn Wentland (Willowbrook, Illinois). Dianis has helped the Flyers secure the second seed in the NCAA II Great Lakes Region Tournament. Ashland University junior third baseman/catcher Kristen McGaughey (Massillon, Ohio) is the second-team utility player, while Saint Joseph’s College sophomore Stephanie Kickels (Lemont, Illinois) was chosen as the second-team designated player. In the outfield, the 2007 second team includes Gannon freshman Carol Kienzl (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania); University of Wisconsin-Parkside sophomore Amanda Miller (Hartland, Wisconsin); and Missouri-Rolla sophomore Emily Tucker (St. Louis, Missouri). The second-team All-Region pitchers consist of University of Charleston senior Andrea Lewis (Sissonville, West Virginia); Saint Joseph’s sophomore Sara Somogyi (Chicago, Illinois); and Ashland senior Jaime Williams (Albertville, Alabama).
