Athletic Appeal Process

Coaches are expected to provide the opportunity and time for a student-athlete to discuss a coach's decision. It is hoped that all disagreements can be resolved at this level. If a disagreement cannot be resolved, the student-athlete may appeal the decision in writing to the athletic director and he/she has the right to a hearing with the director of athletics. This procedure should be accomplished within 10 working days from the student-athlete's meeting with the head coach.

Should the student-athlete still feel he/she has been treated unfairly, he/she may request a hearing by committee. This request shall be in writing to the ICAC chairperson who, upon receipt, shall appoint a sub-committee and schedule a hearing. The hearing committee shall consist of five (5) members, including at least one student member. The request for a hearing shall be initiated within 10 working days of the athlete's meeting with the athletic director.

In the event there is a disagreement on a decision that cannot be deferred until a hearing is held, the decision of the head coach shall stand until such time as a hearing can be arranged.

In all appeal proceedings, the decision of the appeal committee will be final.
