Bringing more than 20 years of teaching professional experience, Bill Logan continues to enjoy a wide variety of success as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Both squads advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships last season. Under the tutelage of Logan, the women's team finished fifth at the conference tournament and played to a record of 13-5, which included a 4-0 mark in its non-traditional spring season. The men's side, which was led by mostly freshman and sophomore's, qualified for the conference tournament after picking up nine wins on the season. Logan coached two All-Conference performers in 2003-04. Coryn Reich earned the honor on the women's side, and Matt Warner picked up the award on the men's side. Logan became the head coach for both programs in 1995. He became the women's coach in 1994. Logan has coached one All-American in Kyler Updyke, who won the Mid-American Rolex in Indianapolis during the 1994-95 season. That season, Logan's squad claimed first-place at the Regional Championships in Edmond, Okla., and advanced to the NCAA Championships in Davis, Calif. The team wrapped up the year ranked No. 17 nationally and No. 4 in the region. In 1995, Logan guided the women's netters to an undefeated 11-0 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, giving SIUE its first-ever league championship. For his effort, Logan was honored as the GLVC's Coach of the Year. In 1997, Logan led the men's team to its first-ever GLVC title, finishing with a GLVC record of 12-1 and an overall mark of 16-7. His team qualified for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships with a regional ranking of No. 12. One year later, Logan guided the team to its second consecutive GLVC title and finished the season with 14-4 record and a regional ranking of 14 in the Midwest. Before coming to SIUE, the Granite City native coached at Lewis and Clark Community College, where he helped lead the Trailblazers (then Bucks) to a No. 7 ranking in the NJCAA in 1990-91. Logan earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from SIUE in 1971. |
