April 24, 2008 Gonzalez Named GLVC Freshman of the Year          EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Paulo Gonzalez (Chicago) was twice honored Thursday night by the Great Lakes Valley Conference.          The No. 1 singles player for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was named All-GLVC as well as Freshman of the Year.          Gonzalez has posted a 16-3 record at No. 1 singles this season. His overall record of 21-7 also is a team best. As a freshman, he has led the Cougars to the No. 4 seed at the GLVC Tournament, which begins Friday morning at 11.          SIUE, 12-7 overall, faces Bellarmine in the opening round of the eight-team tournament.          Gonzalez was the lone Cougar to be honored by the conference.
