Southern Illinois University Edwardsville COLLEGE MEN'S TENNIS March 29, 2002 Cougars Defeat Saint Joseph's          Southern Illinois University Edwardsville won its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match of the season, downing Saint Joseph's 5-1 Friday at the Cougar Tennis Courts.          Andy Renner (Belleville) and Mike Schmidt (Centralia) were double winners for the Cougars. After combining to defeat the Saint Joseph's No. 3 doubles team of Greg Gulvas and Mike Parrish, the duo won straight sets victories in singles.          Renner won at No. 3 singles, defeating Lance Crow 6-2, 6-1. Schmidt defeated Ed Bohm 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. SIUE's other winner was Chris Rigdon (Glen Carbon) at No. 6 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Mike Parrish.          The singles matches at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 were stopped after SIUE clinched the victory. SIUE's record improves to 2-3 overall. Saint Joseph's falls to 3-12.          SIUE returns to the courts tomorrow morning at 9 to face GLVC rival Lewis.
