Rigdon Leads Men’s Tennis Cougars
Chris Rigdon (Glen Carbon), a freshman, was the runner-up in the White Flight of the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s Fall Men’s Tennis Tournament in Evansville, Ind.
Rigdon defeated Nate Thomas of Northern Kentucky, Pat Broderick of Lewis, and Tim Geraci of Northern Kentucky before falling in the finals to Northern Kentucky’s Jon Peters, 6-3, 6-3.
SIUE began the tournament with seven players in the three flights. Other than Rigdon, no other SIUE players advanced past the second round. The tournament was an open event for GLVC teams from Indianapolis, Northern Kentucky, Lewis, Southern Indiana and SIUE.
The Cougars play their final fall event this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Championships in Indianapolis. Play begins Friday with the bracket finals set for Saturday afternoon.
