May 13, 2008 SIUE'S Block Headlines Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-GLVC Team           INDIANAPOLIS - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Scott Block, a junior from Hanover Park, Illinois, is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year. He was honored with the award after leading the Cougars to their fifth straight GLVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship on May 3.           Block dominated the throwing events at the meet to post 28 points for the Cougars. He placed first in the discus throw and shot put and also earned second place in the hammer throw. Block posted a mark of 56.18 meters in the discus and 16.65 meters in the shot put. He fell just short of UIndy's Craig Myers winning mark of 56.05 meters in the hammer throw by posting an effort of 56.00 meters.           Block headlines the 2008 All-GLVC Men's Outdoor Track & Field First Team released on Monday.           In addition, GLVC Freshman Athlete of the Year honors were shared by Drury's Jaime Villa Zapatero, Missouri S&T's Brandon Etzold and Southern Indiana's David Goodman.           2008 Coach of the Year honors have been bestowed upon SIU Edwardsville's David Astrauskas.           The complete list of All-GLVC selections follows.
