GLVC Announces Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Kyle Rose (Kankakee, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Missouri S&T's Jordan Henry (St. Charles, Mo.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Rose, a senior sprinter for the Cougars, bettered his NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time in the 400-meter dash at the SIUE Twilight over the weekend.
He won the event in a time of 46.38 which currently places him first in the GLVC this season and third on the NCAA Division II national list.
In addition to his strong 400-meter effort, Rose also ran a leg on the SIUE 4x400-meter relay team. The team finished in a time of 3:11.29 which currently ranks first in the GLVC and sixth in the nation this season.
Henry, a junior pole vaulter for the Miners, placed first in the pole vault at the Bill Williams Invitational in Joplin, Missouri over the weekend.
He cleared a height of 5.07 meters to earn the victory. The effort leads the GLVC this season in the pole vault and is an automatic qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Championship.
Missouri S&T and SIUE will return to action at the GLVC Outdoor Championships on May 2-3. The Cougars, defending men and women champions, will host the event this year.
