SIUE's Rose, UIndy's Little Earn Weekly Men's Track & Field Awards
          INDIANAPOLIS – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kyle Rose (Kankakee, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and the University of Indianapolis’ Willie Little (Chicago, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
          Rose, a senior sprinter for the Cougars, posted a pair of NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times at the SEMOtion Relays in Cape Girardeau, Missouri over the weekend.
          He finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 46.85. The effort exceeded the provisional qualifying mark and fell just shy of the automatic qualifying mark of 46.60. Rose is currently ranked first in the GLVC this season in the 400-meter dash and fifth on the national performance list.
          Rose also ran a leg on SIUE’s second-place 4x400-meter relay team. The four-member team posted a time of 3:12.07 which is also a NCAA Division II provisional qualifying effort.
          SIUE will return to action at the Western Illinois Memorial on Saturday.
          Little, a senior thrower for the Greyhounds, secured a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the men’s hammer throw at the Mike Poehlein Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday.
          His throw of 53.26 meters was good for fourth place in the event. Little also competed in the discus throw where he finished 23rd with a mark of 32.83 meters.
          His efforts helped UIndy finish in fifth place in the 18-team field. UIndy will next compete at the Indiana Intercollegiate Championships this weekend in Indianapolis.
          Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Joey Blue, Lewis’ Dan Probst and Randy Hinton, Southern Indiana’s David Goodman and UIndy’s Elliott Cohee.
