COURTESY OF GLVC SPORTS INFORMATION January 15, 2008 GLVC Selects SIUE’s Littleton, Block as Men’s Indoor Athletes of the Week Each Posts Provisional Marks at Missouri Invitational         INDIANAPOLIS – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Chris Littleton (Champaign, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week and Scott Block (Hanover Park, IL) is the GLVC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.         Littleton, a junior for the Cougars, collected top-five finishes in four events at the Missouri Invitational on Saturday. He posted a time of 7.18 in the 60-meter dash. Littleton placed second in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.58 and fifth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.24.         The junior also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x400 meter relay team which finished the event in a time of 3:18.24. The mark currently ranks the SIUE team second on the NCAA Division II performance list. They finished second in the relay at the Missouri Invitational         Block, a junior for SIUE, won the shot put and finished fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at the Missouri Invitational on Saturday. He turned in personal bests in each event.         Block posted a mark of 17.42 meters in the shot put which is a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying mark and a new SIUE school record. The mark currently ranks fourth on the NCAA performance list in the event.         He recorded a second SIUE school record in the weight throw by posting a mark of 18.75 meters. It was a personal best and currently ranks second on the NCAA performance list.         SIUE will next be in action on Jan. 19 at the Eastern Illinois University Mega Meet.         Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Missouri S&T’s Jared Anders.                 -siue cougars-
