January 8, 2008 SIUE Begins Indoor Season with Missouri Invitational         The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville track program will officially begin their indoor season with the University of Missouri Invitational on January 11th.         Traveling to Columbus, Mo., the Cougars will use this meet as a gauge to determine where the program is and what areas need to be addresed..         "This meet is good for us because we get a chance to see quality competition from the start and our athletes get a chance to finally compete against someone other than ourselves. With this meet we also get a chance gauge where we are as a team," said SIUE head coach David Astrauskas.         With SIUE capturing both that male and female GLVC Indoor Championship last year, it should will be interesting to see if this years teams will be able to carry the same momentum.         If this weekeneds stats do not look normal to Cougar fans, then be patient. This meet will see a lot of Cougars performing in their second and third events.         "In this meet, we will be giving a lot of athletes the opporutnity to perform in there secondary events. With this meet the athletes will be able to get their timing back," said Astrauskas.         After the Cougars return from Columbia, their next action will be no Saturday, Jan. 19th at the EIU Mega Meet in Charleston, Ill.                 -siue cougars-
