January 29, 2007 Block, Kombrink Take Home Wins         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's track and field team posted two impressive wins at the Illinois Invite.         Scott Block (Hanover Park) won the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 3 inches (16.23 meters). Kris Kombrink (O'Fallon) also took home a victory in the weight throw with a distance of 57-9.5 (17.61 meters).         "Scott Block and Kris Kombrink both competed very well in the throwing events. It is always nice to have some event winners in a high caliber meet," said men's track and field coach Dave Astrauskas. The Illinois Invite consisted mostly of NCAA Division I competitors.         Up next for the Cougars will be more Division I competition at the Hoosier Relays.         "Next weekend is a big weekend for our squads, and Indiana is a top-notch facility. I look for a lot of breakout performances next weekend," said Astrauskas. "Most of our athletes took the weekend off in order to gear up for the final three regular season meets. We will have a full squad competing at the remaining meets on our schedule."         The SIUE men's track and field team will compete again Friday and Saturday at the Hoosier Relays in Bloomington, Ind.                 -siue cougars-
