February 12, 2005 DePauw Invitational Results 2005 Indoor Performance List Men's Track Wins DePauw Invitational Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's indoor track team picked up the DePauw Invitational championship on Saturday finishing first out of 20 teams with 173 points. The next closest opponent, Missouri Baptist Track Club, ended with 82 points. Kyle Rose (Kankakee) set the school record at 200 meters with a time of 22.30 breaking the old record of 22.61 set by Ryan Gold in 1999. Brian Taghon (East Moline) won both the mile and the 3,000-meter run. Taghon finished with a time of 8:31.68 in the 3000 and 4:15.70 the mile. Rose also was a double winner, placing first at 400 meters with a time of 49.18 and right. SIUE's Jonathan Bannister (Plano, Texas) was second at 49.28. Jeff Fearday (Teutopolis) placed first in the 600 meters with a time of 1:22.59. Cody Ellermeyer (DuQuoin) came in first in the 800 meters at 1:58.50. The 4x200 meter relay team set a new school-record, finishing with a time of 1:29.89. Lee Weeden (Ferguson, Mo.) continue his successful indoor season finishing first in the weight throw and the shot put. Weeden's throw on Saturday in the shot put of 16.01m (52-6.5) provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA championshps in both events. The Cougars next will be at the EIU Friday Night Special in Charleston. -siue cougars- |
