March 12, 2004 Skirball Advances to NCAA Finals BOSTON - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Richard Skirball (Granite City) advanced to Saturday's finals of the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center. Skirball, a senior, was the sixth of nine qualifiers for the finals, which will take place today (Saturday) at 4:20 p.m. EST. Skirball ran the fourth-fastest time in his heat at 1 minute, 51.98 seconds. His time broke his own school record of 1:52.68 set back in 2002. Josh Weber, of Northwood, held the fastest time going into the finals by winning the prelimiary heat in 1:51.39, less than a second faster than Skirball.
