December 19, 2007 Coaches Tab Three SIUE Men's Soccer Players All-American EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has three men's soccer All-Americans, according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Junior forward Dustin Attarian (St. Louis), sophomore midfielder Randy Roy (St. Louis), and senior goalkeeper Greg Crook (Columbia) all were named to the second team. "Having three players chosen is a great testimony to how coaches respect the top players of our program," said SIUE coach Ed Huneke. The Cougars finished the season with an 11-4-3 record and a No. 20 national ranking, advancing to the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional finals for the fourth consecutive year. It was SIUE's final year of NCAA Division II play in men's soccer as the Cougars will be making the transition back to NCAA Division I play. SIUE played Division I men's soccer from 1973 to 1995 before joining the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Attarian finished as the team's leading scorer with 10 goals and one assist. His six game-winning goals was the most by a Cougar since Mike Ngonyani recorded six back in the 2002 season. "Dustin's attacking instincts and style caused much concern with our opponents," said Huneke. Roy posted two goals, including the game winner against Missouri-St. Louis. He also earned honorable mention All-American honors from Daktronics. While not necessarily a scorer this season, Roy was a key reason for SIUE outscoring its opponents 34-11. "Randy's work ethic and toughness at midfield disrupted many teams' possession," noted Huneke. Crook completed his career with a 0.66 goals against average. He grabbed a career-high 56 saves in 207. Crook finished 2007 with a 0.55 goals against average, which placed him No. 4 in the nation. His save percentage of .848 was eighth best nationally. "Greg's athletic ability made him a force up high and quick down low," said Huneke. Crook also was named an honorable mention All-American by Daktronics.
