October 25, 2007 Six Cougars Named All-GLVC INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Six Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer players were named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference, including four on the first team, as the league's voting results were announced Thursday. Dustin Attarian (St. Louis), Randy Roy (St. Louis), Zach Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.), and Greg Crook (Columbia) were named to the first team. Kevin Bielicki (St. Louis) and Mike Jones (St. Peters, Mo.) were selected to the third team. The selections were made by a vote of the league's 14 coaches. Coach Ed Huneke and the Cougars' next action is Sunday at 3:30 p.m. when it plays host to Indianapolis in the quarterfinal round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. SIUE, the No. 2 seed and ranked 21st nationally in the NSCAA/NCAA Division II poll, can advance to the semifinals of the league championships with a win. The semifinals and finals will be played Nov. 2 and 4 at the site of the top remaining seed after the quarterfinal round. SIUE's players on the All-GLVC team have been a big reason for the team's 10-3-2 record heading into the GLVC Tournament. Attarian, a junior forward, leads the Cougars with 10 goals and is seventh overall in goals scoring among GLVC players. He also leads SIUE with six game-winning goals. Roy, a sophomore midfielder, has scored two goals this season for the Cougars. He controls much of the flow for the offense which has scored 32 times in 15 games. Bauer, a junior back, also was a finalist for the GLVC Defensive Player of the Year award. Bauer leads the backfield that has allowed just nine goals this season. Crook, a senior goalkeeper, holds a 0.53 goals against average, third best in the GLVC. His 1,355 minutes in goal is the second most among the top 10 players in goals against average. Bielicki, a sophomore midfielder, is tied as the second-leading scorer for the Cougars. He has six goals and one assist this season. Jones, a sophomore back, completed the regular season with three goals and one assist. Below is a complete list of All-GLVC men's soccer award winners in 2007.
