SIUE, Crook Shut out UMSL
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - Greg Crook picked up his third shutout of the season Friday as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville blanked rival Missouri-St. Louis 2-0.
Only nine minutes into the match, the No. 22-ranked Cougars put the game's first goal into the back of the net. The goal was credited to Randy Roy (St. Louis) with the assist going to Kevin Bielicki (St. Louis).
Crook (Columbia) would only need one goal . Playing the entire game in the net for the Cougars, Crook recorded four saves. With this game, Crook improved his goals against average to 0.51.
For insurance purposes, Dustin Attarian took a rebound and placed it in the goal just out of the UMSL goalkeeper Mike Bober's reach at the 63:15 mark.
The Cougars are now 7-2-1 overall and 7-1-1- in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
SIUE returns to action Sunday when it takes on Missouri-Rolla. The match begins at 2:30 pm.
