Cougars Look to Continue Win Streak
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer is focused to continue its three-game winning streak during a busy week.
The Cougars play three games this week starting Wednesday on the road against Quincy then at home over Homecoming weekend versus Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's. SIUE begins the week tied for second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 6-3-3 record overall and a 6-2-1 mark in league play.
"We are in a very busy part of the schedule and have to make sure we are ready to play," said SIUE men's soccer coach Ed Huneke.
This past weekend, the Cougars went undefeated with wins over Southern Indiana and Kentucky Wesleyan.
"Kevin Thibodeau (St. Charles, Mo.) had two goals this weekend and played well in his new attacking midfield position," said Huneke.
Also helping the Cougars is the defensive combination of Zach Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.), Mike Zaegel (St. Louis) and Randy Roy (St. Louis), added Huneke.
Huneke said he hopes to see his team shoot more and take more chances offensively.
SIUE meets Quincy Wednesday at 5 p.m.
