Offense Unloads on KWC
OWENSBORO, Ky. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer exploded with its biggest offense of the season in a 4-2 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan.
The Cougars moved into a tie for second place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference race. SIUE is just one-half game behind Wisconsin-Parkside and tied with Northern Kentucky.
SIUE next faces a crucial matchup Wednesday at 5 p.m. when it travels to Quincy.
On Sunday, SIUE fired 21 shots at Kentucky Wesleyan and scored a season-high four goals.
Kentucky Wesleyan took the early lead on a penalty kick at 30:10 by Andy Donohoe.
SIUE answered with four straight goals from John Matthews, Dustin Attarian, Kevin Thibodeau and Kevin Bielicki.
The Panthers added a late unassisted goal by Jeff Smith at 72:50.
