Lewis Blanks Cougars 1-0
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville suffered its first Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season loss in nearly four years Saturday with a 1-0 loss at Lewis.
The Cougars, 3-2-3 overall and ranked No. 13 in the nation, blasted 20 shots at Lewis goalkeeper Anthony Szymel, who finished with eight saves. SIUE's offense picked up five shots from Mike Banner and four more from John Matthews.
Dustin Attarian, who had two goals in Friday's win over UW-Parkside, and Kevin Thibodeau recorded three shots each.
Craig McIntosh scored the game-winning goal for the Flyers at 33:18 on an assist from Kipp Cartwright.
The last time SIUE had lost a conference regular season game was October 18, 2002, against Missouri-St. Louis.
