Cougars Win Battle of Ranked Teams
         SOMERS, Wis. -- Dustin Attarian scored both goals as 13th-ranked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville defeated No. 7-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside 2-1 Friday in college soccer action.
         SIUE outlasted UWP in the battle of nationally-ranked teams. The Cougars improved to 3-1-3 and 3-0-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The wins puts SIUE's streak of Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season games without a loss at 38 games.
         UWP suffered its first loss of the season and is now 6-1. UWP had given up two goals in its first six games and gave up two to Attarian and the Cougars on Friday.
         SIUE jumped in front at 8:08 when Attarian connected with Kevin Thibodeau.
         The Rangers tied it up less than 11 minutes later when Greg Walasek scored on an assist from GLVC Player of the Week Bojan Jovicic.
         Attarian proved to have the game-winner as he scored just 2:25 into the second half on an assist from Patrick Brazill.
         SIUE outshot UWP 11-10.
         Greg Crook was the victorious goalkeeper with five saves. Victor Perez took the loss and finished with four saves.
         SIUE returns to action Sunday at noon when it faces Lewis in Romeoville.
