Men’s Soccer Feels Strong Continuing Conference Play
After beginning the Great Lakes Valley Conference season with a win, the No. 4-ranked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men’s soccer team feels strong.
“We played well as a team in terms of possessing the ball.” said SIUE coach Ed Huneke.
Showing teamwork in their 3-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis, the Cougars recorded goals from three different players, including Randy Roy (St. Louis), Dustin Attarian (St. Louis), and Victor Pacheco (Sao Luis, Brazil).
With conference opponents Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky at home this weekend, the Cougars are focused on continuing their winning ways.
“While we are playing better, we want to strive for more improvement,” said Huneke.
Huneke said that instead of focusing on skills of the two teams coming up, he intends to work on his own team's improvement.
The Cougars play Bellarmine Friday at Korte Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and Northern Kentucky at home Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
