Sept. 3, 2005 Pacheco, Collico Lift Cougars Past Hawks QUINCY - The No. 1-ranked Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's soccer teams took its early-season frustrations out on Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Quincy at Soccer Bowl XIII. Victor Pacheco and Tim Collico each scored two goals as SIUE defeated Quincy 4-0 in the teams' opening game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference season. SIUE faces Northwood on Sunday at 5 p.m. Quincy outshot the Cougars 10-9 but were only able to get two shots on goal against SIUE goalkeeper Greg Crook, who has two saves. Pacheco scored both of his goals unassisted. The first came at 9:15 off a restart from a Quincy foul. Pacheco scored again at 56:15 from 10 yards out. Collico picked up his goals at 67:10 with an assist from Adam Lanter and at 86:25 on an assist from Robert Ridder. Northwood, who SIUE faces next, lost its opening game of Soccer Bowl XIII to Truman State 3-0. -siue cougars- |
