Quincy junior back Scott Smith (Quincy, Ill.) earned the status of Great Lakes Valley Conference “Player of the Week” for his efforts in the first round of the GLVC men’s soccer tournament.
In Sunday's 2-0 tournament quarterfinal victory over Northern Kentucky, Smith scored both of the Hawks' goals, his third and fourth of the season. It was Quincy's first game since its 2-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Oct. 23. Smith didn't play in the first half against NKU, but came off the bench to score his first goal at the 57:59 mark off an assist from Jimmy Bourisaw and his second goal at the 65:50 mark off an assist from Senad Hot. Quincy is now 10-5-4 overall and 6-2-2 in the GLVC. The #4-seeded Hawks will face #1 seed SIU Edwardsville on Friday in the GLVC Semi-Finals hosted at Edwardsville.
