Men’s Soccer Looks to Bounce Back
After falling to Truman State 1-0 last Saturday, the SIUE men’s soccer team will try to bounce back this weekend when it plays host to McKendree on Thursday. It then travels to Christian Brothers for a Saturday match up.
“It’s good we can play non-regional opponents at this time of the year and try to find our way to becoming a better team,” Coach Ed Huneke said.
McKendree is 1-0 on the season after winning its opener 2-1 against Newman University. Christian Brothers is 0-2 on the year after losing to Incarnate Word and Saint Edward’s.
SIUE was scheduled to play Rockhurst last Sunday, but the game was called due to wet conditions. Huneke said he intended to get the game rescheduled with the Hawks.
In SIUE’s loss to Truman State, the Cougars outshot the Bulldogs 13-10. Truman State, however, scored late in the first half for the only goal of the game.
