Cougars Top UWP in OT
Cal Thomas scored in the first overtime to break a scoreless tie and give SIUE a 1-0 victory over the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers Sunday at Korte Stadium.
The Cougars improve to an 8-2 record and a perfect 4-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Wisconsin-Parkside fell to 6-5 and 3-3 in the GLVC with the loss.
In the 96th minute, Addae Rique out-ran three Rangers down the field and crossed the ball through the box to Thomas. Thomas, who scored twice Friday, leads the team with eight goals.
SIUE goalkeeper Bret Richardson was flawless in goal while making five saves and posting a shutout.
SIUE outshot Wisconsin-Parkside 13-10. Leading the way for the Cougars was Victor Pacheco's four shots.
SIUE will next be in action next weekend when it travels to Northern Kentucky and Indianapolis for GLVC contests.
