Lickenbrock Tied for Second at NCAA Regional
JOPLIN, MO. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's golfer Kyle Lickenbrock (Freeburg) is tied for second place with 18 holes to play at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament.
Lickenbrock posted his second straight round under par Tuesday at Twin Hills Golf and Country Club. He shot a three-under-par 69 Monday after starting more than five hours late and completed round two Tuesday with a one-under-par 71 at the 6,842-yard course. He is playing the par fives at five under par through 36 holes.
Playing as an individual competitor at the regional tournament, he must finish as the top individual who is not a member of one of the top two teams in order to advance to the NCAA Championships finals at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich., on May 22-25.
Jeff Carlson, of Ferris State, is the 36-hole leader with a seven-under-par 137. He is three shots ahead of Lickenbrock and Indianapolis' Justin Huebner.
Ferris State, Indianapolis and Grand Valley State are the top three teams after two rounds.
Lickenbrock will have an 8:36 a.m. tee time for the final round Wednesday.
