NKU Shooting Torches SIUE
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Northern Kentucky University shot 55.6 percent from the field and defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 83-67 at the Vadalabene Center.
SIUE is now 2-3 overall and 0-2 in Great Lakes Valley conference play. NKU improved its record to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in GLVC action.
Anthony Teague, of Northern Kentucky, led all scorers with 21 points. Teague also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds while going 4 of 4 from behind the three-point line. Morton Harrison and Scott Bibbins added 18 and 16 points, respectively, for the Norse.
Coming into the game, reserve player Anthony Jones (Centralia) was averaging 7.5 points per game. On Saturday, he led all Cougar scorers with 20 points. TJ Gray also chipped in 14 points and was 4 of 6 from three-point range.
Going into the half, the Cougars were down six. A second half three-pointer by Anthony Jones at the 18:33 mark brought the Cougars within five points; that would be the closest that the Cougars would get.
