November 19, 2007 Cougars Look To Robert Morris EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- After a tough weekend loss, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball team is looking towards its game against the Robert Morris College Eagles. Against Wayne State, the Cougars were led offensively by T.J. Gray (Champaign) and John Edmison (Springfield). Gray scored 20 points while Edmison chipped in 17. Leonard Parker (Leavenworth, Kan) added 10 assists. SIUE fell to Wayne State 84-74 despite leading by eight at halftime. SIUE, now 1-1, will take on Robert Morris Tuesday at the Vadalabene Center. Tip-off time is scheduled for 7:30 pm. The Cougars are a perfect 4-0 overall against the Eagles. For SIUE coach Lennox Forrester, the game plan for tomorrow's game against Robert Morris College is simple. "They are a team that likes to shoot the three and spread the floor. We need to guard the ball and take away the three-pointers." SIUE has started the season with one of the top offenses in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Cougars are second only to Southern Indiana in scoring at 82.0 points per game. Southern Indiana scored 87 in its first contest of the season. The Cougars also lead the GLVC in offensive rebounds per game (20.0) and steals per game (13.5). Parker, a 5-foot-9-inch senior, currently holds the top spot in the GLVC in assists per game at eight per contest. Gray's nine three-pointers also is a GLVC-best. After Tuesday's matchup, SIUE is idle until next Thursday when it opens GLVC play at the Vadalabene Center against Bellarmine. Game time is 7:30 p.m. -siue cougars- |
