October 31, 2007 Schaefer Takes Leave of Absence from Basketball Cougars EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball coach Lennox Forrester announced that redshirt freshman Mark Schaefer (Edwardsville) will take a leave of absence from the program to pursue academic opportunities. Forrester said Schaefer plans to take an internship that could interfere with basketball practice and games. Forrester added that the internship could be highly beneficial to Schaefer after graduating from SIUE. "We certainly respect his decision, and we wish him well," said Forrester. Schaefer is a graduate of Edwardsville High School and is majoring in construction management at SIUE. -siue cougars- |
