October 10, 2007 Cougars Picked Third in GLVC West INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- First-year coach Lennox Forrester and his Southern Illinois University Edwardsville kick off practice Monday, and the predictions for their success are already in. Before even the first basketball is bounced in practice, SIUE has been selected to finish third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division. Drury was picked to win the GLVC West followed closely by Southern Indiana. Drury also edged out USI in first place-votes 4-3. After SIUE in third, the picks were Quincy in fourth, Rockhurst in fifth, Missouri-St. Louis in sixth and Missouri-Rolla in seventh. In the GLVC East Division, four different schools garnered first-place votes in a wide-open race. UW-Parkside finished first in the voting with three first-place votes. Northern Kentucky was second with one first-place vote. Lewis was third with one first-place vote. And Kentucky Wesleyan was chosen to finish fourth despite two first-place votes. The rest of the GLVC East includes Saint Joseph's in fifth, Indianapolis in sixth and Bellarmine in seventh.
