January 4, 2007 SIUE Baffles UM-Rolla 60-43          ROLLA, MO. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville kept defense at the forefront Thursday in its 60-43 victory at Missouri-Rolla.          It was the fifth win for the Cougars in the last six outings. SIUE improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Missouri-Rolla slipped to 6-6 and 1-4 in the GLVC.          SIUE's defense held Missouri-Rolla to 25.9 percent shooting in the game. And it was consistent for SIUE in both halves as the Miners were 7 of 27 from the field in both halves.          Mike Hardiek led all scorers with 19 points for the Cougars. Doug Taylor played a solid all-around game with 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. J.B. Jones added 12 points.          The Miners were within one of the Cougars at halftime and took a momentary lead on Shea Wiemann's layup with 19:27 to play. After leading 30-26 with 15:42 to play, SIUE went on a 21-9 run over the next nine minutes. The Cougars would hold a double-digit lead for the rest of the game.          Yamani Ball paced the Miners with 15 points.                   -siue cougars-
