Cougars Ranked No. 18 Nationally
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville men's basketball moved up seven spots this week to No. 18 in the NABC/Division II men's basketball poll. The Cougars continued their string of being ranked in the top 25 for a school-record eight consecutive weeks.
This is the second time SIUE has been ranked No. 18 this season with the last time coming on Feb. 8. The Cougars jumped into the rankings this year on Jan 4. and have been ranked ever since.
Coming into the season SIUE had been ranked 11 times total in the poll before this season's eight.
SIUE, 21-6 overall and 14-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference, has locked up its highest seed ever in the eight-team Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament. The Cougars finished up the home part of their regular season schedule with wins over Kentucky Wesleyan and Bellarmine.
SIUE Coach Marty Simmons and his Cougars finish up the regular season on the road this week traveling to Indianapolis on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. before visiting St. Joseph's on Saturday afternoon at 3.
