Greyhounds Top Cougars 77-55
INDIANAPOLIS - Four players finished in double figures as Indianapolis defeated Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 77-55 in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's basketball action on Monday.
SIUE, which falls to 2-3 and 1-1 in the GLVC, countered with three players in double figures. Calvin Sykes led the way with 12 points. Ron Jones had 11. Justin Ward came off the bench to score 10.
Indianapolis swarmed SIUE on defense, holding SIUE to 38.8 percent shooting. The Greyhounds also controlled the boards. The Greyhounds outrebounded SIUE 42-24 in what was the 100th victory for Indianapolis coach Todd Sturgeon.
Jason Wright led Indianapolis with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Hixson led all scorers with 16 points. David Logan scored 13 while Lawrence Barnes came off the bench for 10.
SIUE now returns home for a Thursday game against Bellarmine at the Vadalabene Center. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
