Nomination Criteria
Individual Honoree
The qualifications to be inducted as a former student/athlete into the SIUE Athletic Hall of Fame are as follows:
A candidate must have participated as an SIUE student/athlete for at least two (2) years.
A candidate must have made a substantial impact to the team that they participated on or have been recognized for their achievement (such as All Conference, All American, National Champion).
A candidate must have graduated from SIUE, unless compelling circumstances exist.
A candidate is eligible on the tenth (10) year after completing their last season of their SIUE athletic career.
A candidate may be inducted posthumously.
Team Honor
The qualifications for a team to be inducted into the SIUE Athletic Hall of Fame are as follows:
A team must have achieved a high degree of success.
A team must have made a substantial contribution to the prestige of the university (such as a National Championship or Regional Championship)
A team is eligible on the 10th year since the team last competed
Coach or Administrator Honoree
The qualifications to be inducted as a Coach or Administrator into the SIUE Athletic Hall of Fame are as follows:
A candidate must have served the SIUE Department of Intercollegiate Athletics or the University for at least four (4) years.
A candidate must have made a substantial impact and brought credit to the SIUE athletic program and to the University with minimal controversy.
A candidate must no longer be employed by SIUE.
A candidate is eligible on the second (2nd) year following their departure, retirement or death.
A candidate may be inducted posthumously.
Special Individuals
The committee can use the proviso that they may wish to honor a special individual who has distinguished him or herself and has had a substantial influence on the athletics program at SIUE. Such individuals like “Friends of the Program” would be eligible to be inducted in this classification to the SIUE Athletic Hall of Fame.
