Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Squad: Saturday, April 18, 2009 @10am
         There will be no open gym held on Easter Sunday.
          Open gym Friday April 17th We will also be holding an open gym the night before tryouts from 6pm-9pm.
          It is not mandatory, but it will be helpful for anyone who would like to attend. You will not be learning anything for tryouts; it is strictly for additional practice. The cheer and sideline/chant will be learned the day of tryouts.
          Tryout Attire Solid-colored, fitted tank top and shorts (acceptable colors include: red, black, white, and gray).
          Sign-in and warm-ups for tryouts will be from 8am-9am, so make sure you arrive early or you will not have the opportunity to participate in tryouts. There is a $15 tryout fee that is due at sign-in.
          The new 2009-2010 squad will be announced on our website on Saturday, April 25th.
          The SIUE Cheerleading squad currently consists of 12-members. The squad cheers at home games for both men's and women's soccer and basketball and volleyball.
          The SIUE Cheerleaders practice twice a week in addition to home games. Scholarships are not offered at this time.

         Tryout Requirements
          CHEERLEADING SELECTION REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
          Cheer
          Sideline/Chant - repeated 3 times
          Required Jumps - toe touch, pike, and double toe touch
          Tumbling - Minimum requirements:

         Standing back handspring
         Round off back handspring
         Toe Touch back handspring

          If you don't have these skills please let me know during tryouts
         
Stunting - Flyers/Tops: full extensions, sponge, re-loads, walk-ins, liberty, and
          straight cradle (we want to see what you can do)
          Backspots and Bases: full extensions, sponge, re-loads, walk-ins, liberty, and straight cradle (we want to see what you can do)
          The requirements listed are only minimum requirements. It is strongly recommended that you show what you can do, not just the minimum.
