September 17, 2007 Brown Sparks Cougar Women's Cross Country Bolstered by one of the top performances in school history, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country team turned in five all-time personal bests. Coach Eileen McAllister said the Cougars will look to keep the momentum going Saturday when it travels to Carbondale for the Saluki Invitational at 10:45 a.m. Kayla Brown (Petersburg) continued her post a strong sophomore campaign with a time of 18 minutes, 11.77 seconds at the Eastern Illinois Invitational, which is the sixth fastest time in school history. Freshman Maggie Krall (Bloomington) dropped 26 seconds from the first week's event and placed 26th at EIU. Stacey Briggs (Argenta) also was among a group of five SIUE runners who posted career bests. Briggs broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time at EIU. -siue cougars- |
