October 23, 2006 COMPLETE RESULTS Brown Leads Cougars at GLVC Meet           The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country team finished eighth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships over the weekend.           Kayla Brown (Petersburg) finished ninth overall, giving her All-Conference status while also earning freshmen of the Year Honors.           Other top finishers for the Cougars included Kelly Flounders (Homer Glen) who placed 30th and Heather Hackel (Decatur) who finished 41st overall.           Hackel's time placed her among the top 12 on the all-time 6,000 freshmen records, said SIUE cross country coach Eileen McAllister. Brown's finish was No. 1 overall for SIUE freshmen by nearly a minute.           "We have some individuals that ran well, but the whole five was not there and that hurt," said McAllister.           After the team ran their first 6K of the season and the freshmen ran their first ever, McAllister said she feels positive heading into the NCAA Regionals.           "I think they can improve. They showed a lot of potential," said McAllister.           The Cougars run next in the NCAA Regionals at Kenosha, Wis., on Nov. 4 at 11 a.m.           -siue cougars-
