October 16, 2006 Cougars Pull it Together for GLVC Championships           The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's cross country team would like to continue to improve in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.           SIUE will be the host for the 2006 GLVC Championships. The women's 6,000-meter race will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the Cougar Cross Country Course.           A major struggle for the Cougars this season has been the inability to have a full squad ready to run, said SIUE Assistant Coach Eileen McAllister.           "Only having five women on the team, that can run is a major road block," said McAllister.           A continuing positive force on the team is Kayla Brown (Petersburg), who posted the fourth-fastest 5,000-meter time by a freshman earlier this season.           The women are also coming off a positive race at Border Wars, and McAllister would like to see the team continue to improve.           "If they continue to improve, that is all I can ask from them," said McAllister.           -siue cougars-
